The September 2000 campout for Troop 81 was held at Cypress Springs
State Park. The primary theme of the campout was water skiing. The first
year patrols worked on flag ceremony, fitness test, cooking and camping
skills. The weather was great and everyone was able to either water ski or
tube behind a boat. Most of the scouts enjoyed this campout very much.
Special thanks to Pat Kelly, Bill Scott, George Kerr, and Cobie Davis for
bringing their boats and working so hard for the scouts. Bob Reilly did a
great job helping the scouts coordinate this campout.
The October 2000 campout for Troop 81 was held at Sheppard Air
Force Base Recreation Area. The primary theme of the campout was war
games. The first year patrols worked on compass skills, 5 mile hiking and
general camping skills. Even though it rained hard on Saturday night and
most people got wet in their tents, most of the scouts enjoyed the campout
because of the war games. Bill Merriman did a great job helping the boys
organize this campout
The November 2000 campout for Troop 81 was held at Lake Ray Roberts
State Park. The primary theme of the campout was mountain biking. The
first year patrols worked on orienteering skills, identifying evidence of
wild animals, and studying the trees and plants native to the area. Even
though it rained on Saturday night and Sunday morning, most of the scouts
had a good time.
