About Us

Our Troop meets at 7pm on Monday evenings at New Life Church in East Richardson.  (near Plano & Arapaho Roads)

Merit Badge Track

Troop 81 organizes instruction of all merit badges required for the Eagle rank.  A portion of weekly meetings is used for merit badge classes and other instruction.  

We are Proud of:

·        Chartered for over 30-years

·        Over 60 Eagle Scouts

·        First place patrol at District Camporee four years in a row

·        First place Troop at District Camporee two years in a row

·        Quality Unit Award  

Camping

·        Monthly camping

·        High Adventure

·        Two long-term camps every year

Activities and camp facilities are determined by the Scouts

Monthly campouts include, mountain biking, canoeing, fishing, climbing, tubing, horsemanship, survival skills, water skiing, marksmanship

High adventure camps include 12-days of backpacking at Philmont, 6-days sailing at Sea Base, 9-days of canoeing and hiking at Northern Tier

Long term camps include 1-week at Summer camp, 5-days at Winter camp

Adult Guidance

Mentorship, Safety, Learning

·        Head Scoutmaster

·        Assistant Scoutmasters - Meetings, Leadership, Camping, Advancement, First-years, Recruiting

·        Patrol counselors - Assistant Scoutmasters for each patrol

·        Troop Committee – Chair, Treasurer, Awards, Charter Org. Rep., etc...)

·        Merit badge counselors

·        Eagle counselor

·        Mentors for other positions,

• All adults working with kids must be registered, trained in at least scout safety, and pass a background check.  Most take training in more advanced scouting areas.  All scouts’ parents are encouraged to help when possible.

Fees and Expenses

·        Annual dues

·        Fund Raising profit is routed back to the scouts that participate so that they can use this to fund their scouting activities.  (includes Popcorn and Scout Show ticket sales)

• Other Expenses: Scout uniform, camping gear, campout fees, and grub money
