Here are the minutes from the August Troop Committee meeting:

General announcement:

    This Monday is our first meeting -- It is a swim party at
    6:30PM at the RBF pool.  Please be prepared to pay your scout's
    annual dues ($65 per scout -- It can also be withdrawn from
    scouts accounts).

    Those scouts who haven't had a swim test this summer should
    be prepared to complete the swim test at Monday's swim party.

 0. Report on Sept Campout Plans - Pedro patrol

    September campout is at Camp James Ray on Lake Texoma
    on Sept 17-19.  We have arranged to have three motor boats
    available.  If anyone else would like to bring a boat, please
    consult Dan Lassiter or Winston Duncan.  We will also be using
    some of camp Ray's canoes.

 2. Treasurer - Kathy Dumanski

    Approved 2004-2005 budget.

    Janet Centola reported that we made $102.16 at the Pancho's fund
    raising dinner.

    We might choose doing another dinner fund raiser.

    The Troop committee approved a change to the troop bylaws
    as shown below to become better aligned with rules for
    non-profit organizations:

    You can refund money based on what you are reimbursed on and
    not on fund raised money.

    Report from scouting kick off Round table:

    Adult Leader Training on Oct 6, 13, 20, 27th (and

    Oct 30-31 - Oak Leaf Training

    OA Chapter meetings will be at the same night and
    place as the Boy Scout Round tables.

    Pop corn kick off - Oct 2nd.  - Cindy McCarthy is pop corn kernel.

    Craig described a "Scouting for Patriotism Activity" - Different
    scout units participate by carrying flags at a UTD basketball game.
    Matt Lassiter is the coordinator.

        Aug 28-29 - Rifle and Shoot gun course NRA certification
                 - expense is $130.00. Must be over 21 Years old.
         Please confer with John Benavides if you are interested.
        Sept 2 - School night for scouting

 5. Camping - Dennis McCarthy

    The committee approved the following campouts with the
    exception that the Marksmanship campout may still change.

     o Oct 22-24   - Climbing campout (Camp Cherokee) - Moose Patrol
     o Nov 12-14   - Marksmanship campout - Pyro Patrol

  11. Misc topics:

    Craig Weixelbaum will not be the Pedro Patrol Counselor because
    he is moving away.  Gale Marvin will assume the responsibility.

     A reminder about service hours:

    1. Service hours need to be pre-approved by a scout master.
    2. Need to bring a note after doing the service to document
       the work from the sponsor of the work.
    3. We will create a form to be available on the T81 web.
       Will have slots for:
        Activity
        Pre-approval line
        Sponsor

    Eagle scout projects are always pre-approved.

The Troop Committee is made up of the parents of Scouts in Troop 81. The Committee is responsible for assuring that the troop has the needed resources to support a quality program. The Committee meets once a month, usually the third Thursday of the month. All parents are welcome to attend.
