Attendance:

John Mowery, Jay Herrin, John Steger, Dan Lassiter, Ben Nichols, David

Smalling, Scott Steger, Bryse Davis, Jason Haris, Tucker Livingston,

Scott Kelly, Pat Kelly, Jirah Cox.

Comments on campout:

-     Didn’t like leaving at 6:00 am

-     Didn’t mind 6-hour drive.

-     It was decided it is not necessary to leave that early unless the campsite.

-     Jirah said all the scouts did not have the scout spirit of helping.

-     Mobilization: was where an adult went off and pretending to be hurt and blew a whistle. It took about an hour, and improvement is needed in this area. (Scot Steger felt like he did not learn very much from this.)

Family Camp:

-     Mr. Kelly has to approve all the ideas for how the patrols will be show their presentations to the parents.

-     Dragon and lighting patrols are working together with Mr. Lassiter on Feb. 2

-     Mr. Kelly says that last years presentations were rather weak, and there is room for improvement.

April Campout:

-     The 29th of April, and is being worked on by the viper patrol. The plans for the campout out have to be presented in March to the committee

New Hats:

-     The PLC has voted to change the hat design. There are 4 options. #1 was Black hat/ brim, white brim edging, and with letters. And it would say in the shape of an "O" "Troop 81 est. 19_ _. #2 was a hat with the same picture on the front, but was a khaki hat with an olive green bill. #3 was to have a hat (color unknown) with the picture of what’s on the back of the class b scout shirt embroidered or sewn on, and the 4th option was to keep the same hat. Also if you are in class A you can wear a any boy scout hat until the new design in finalized. And lastly in the summer of 200 you must have the new hat, or the old one if it is decided to change it.

Family Camp Review:

-     Some people were unable to hear the bugle in the morning.

-     Scouts and adults like the food.

-     Jirah thinks the preparation could have been a little better but overall it was run pretty well, also he thought the demonstrations went well.

-     Three people in the Viper patrol didn’t show up to Family camp, either on time or at all, and the "Camp site" was not set up with all the equipment that was supposed to be brought, Mr. Kelly comments that if there is a plan, there should not be people who just don’t show up if the committed to bring materials needed to complete a project.

-     There was a troop mobilization on the camp out where Mr. Kelly went out and was "lost" and the scouts were divided up into search parties, and they were to report back to a central place, there were some communication problems, but over all this project was run pretty well.  Also the scouts need to take this more serious, even though it is not real, it could be, and it needs to not be joke.

Camporee:

-     Mr. Kelly will decide the patrols after he knows everyone who is going.

-     One change from last year at this camp is the size of the troop wont, benefit you in terms of how many points you can get.

-     Stags will help with scouts history

April Campout: (Backpacking campout)

-     It will be a Dinosaur Park, April 28-30

-     If you are backpacking on the 29 you will be spending the night somewhere else with nothing be what you bring, and it will be about 2.5 mile hike. All scouts backpacking will need a backpacking backpack, and water bottle.

Scout Show:

-     It will be a Market Hall, and it will be held the 13th of May, and it is still to be decided if we will participate.

New Hats:

-     Committee says that Khaki and Black are non-distinctive, the do not want to change from the color of red. The scouts will vote, whether or not they want to keep the old design or change the design on the red hat.

Uniforms:

-     Scouts have not been in uniform, and if you go for rank advancement, you will turned down if you are not in complete uniform.

Steger, Matt Hoag, John Steger, Jirah Cox, Chase Russell, Bonnie Branch,

Daniel Pippenger, Mr. Kelly.

-Camporee Review

Jay Herrin said staff was horrible, and CJ Charter agreed the staff was very poor. Scouts did a good job staying dry despite the rainy conditions. The troop was 3rd place in cooking. Jirah thought the award ceremony was pretty poor. The adults were kind enough to help out the scouts by making an ax yard for them. The troop got 98 points out of 100.   One problem Mr. Carter pointed out is that the rain flies were not put up Friday night as he has requested. In conclusion Jirah thinks the troop over all doesn’t get a whole lot out of Camporee.
