PLC minutes August, 2008

attended by:
Brad M., Garrett J.,  Brian M., Henry K., Nick R., Josh D., Tim Meeks, Brian Moore, Laura Jones, Scott McCray

Three items were discussed:

1) September Camp out
2) October Camp Out
3) Open Positions for ASPL's

1) September Camp out Tubing:

a)The troop needs to leave earlier than normal to beat traffic going south on IH 35.
b)Brian Moore wants the troop to subsidize a portion of the cost. It was voted on to hold the cost at $45 per scout and the adults attending must pay their own park fees. Reasons: 1st campout of the year and the scout have just had to pay dues. Mr. Moore believes if we have more boys attending, it will become a very popular campout in the future.
c) A request was made to move scout's-own service to Saturday night. There may not be time to have service on Sunday.
d) swim test to be conducted at Pool party.
e) no need for life jackets  with scouts that pass swim test.  Two scout will need to have life jackets.
f) needs discussed for trailer ie, sun screen
g) Scouts will need to bring funds for tubing $7 and lunch for return trip $5.

Marksmanship campout

a) Camp Wisdom  does not have an opening that weekend.
b) Need to locate a new site, Mr. Moore suggested his place.
c) the number of rounds for the shotguns and 22's discussed.
d) Cost per scout to be around $40, 30 scouts and 8 cars plus the trailer

Discussed the tubing camp out in San Marcos 9/17 to 9/19

Good Things:
Campout was fun. thinking about having camping on a 3-day weekend to do more and to get more people on the campout

Bad things:
People could have gotten hurt on the waterfall.rocky bottom, strong current. Discussed bringing first the first aid kit on the trip. Do better on flag ceremonies, need to listen more, make things a bit easier on flag cremonies.

Food:
need to food in storage right after finishing eating. the keys are working great.

Campsites:
the campsite was small with few  scouts.

Scot McCray:
Reminded everyone of the Court of Honor and duties they need to perform.

Duties:
Pyros - set up and clean up
Badgers - Flag ceremonies
Shark - opening
Pedro - closing
SPL & ASPL's for refreshments
